Minister of “Social Affairs”: Continue developing the cooperative work system and enhancing governance and oversight

The Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, held discussions with Mariam Al-Awad, President of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, on a number of financial, administrative, and regulatory files pertaining to the Union and its cooperative societies.

In a statement to the media following her visit to the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, which was attended by the Acting General Manager of the Union, Faisal Al-Mutairi, and the Administrative Inspector, Faiz Al-Majlad, Al-Huwail said she discussed the staffing structure and organizational framework of the cooperative societies, as well as employment contracts, and worked on resolving issues related to unratified contracts.

She added that she also discussed addressing dual employment in more than one cooperative society by implementing an automated linkage system among all cooperatives, which would enhance oversight and prevent duplication. She stressed the importance of immediately Kuwaitizing the position of Supply Branch Manager, supporting national cadres, and empowering them.

Al-Huwail emphasized the need to continue developing the cooperative work system, strengthening governance and oversight, and addressing administrative and financial observations to ensure improved efficiency across various cooperative societies.

She noted that she reaffirmed during the meeting the importance of implementing a fingerprint attendance system for all employees, which would enhance job discipline and improve performance efficiency within the cooperative work system.
