Minister of Electricity: Encouraging National Talent and Leveraging Innovative Projects to Support the Ministry's Plans

Darine Al-Ali: Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Sabah Al-Mukhaim, underscored the importance of supporting initiatives and projects that leverage modern technologies and artificial intelligence to develop practical solutions for challenges facing the electricity and energy sectors.

This came during his meeting, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Adel Al-Zamil, with a team participating in the Korea AI in Action Program 2026, organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences in collaboration with Korea University. The team visited to present their project on utilizing artificial intelligence technologies in the field of smart meters.

Dr. Al-Mukhaim commended the team’s efforts and their focus on developing a project linked to one of the Ministry’s most important digital transformation initiatives. He emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to encouraging national talent and harnessing innovative ideas and projects that support the Ministry’s plans in the areas of digital transformation, energy efficiency, and consumption rationalization, in line with the state’s directions toward sustainability and innovation.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Mukhaim listened to an explanation of the project concept and the mechanism for utilizing data provided by smart meters, as well as the application of artificial intelligence technologies to analyze electricity consumption patterns. This aims to enhance usage efficiency, support conservation efforts, and develop innovative solutions that enable greater utilization of the smart metering system.

The team comprised Nouwar Al-Rashidi, Ghaliya Al-Mukhaim, Fawzan Al-Fahad, and Jaraah Al-Mulifi. The trainees drew inspiration for their project from the national campaign for conserving energy and water, “Wafar,” and its objectives and messages aimed at promoting a culture of conservation and improving resource consumption efficiency. The team worked to translate these objectives into an innovative technology based on artificial intelligence and smart meter data, thereby supporting conservation efforts and enhancing optimal energy use.
