Mubarak and Al-Awadi reach the quarterfinals of the Portugal Open

Kuwait’s national tennis team stars Abdulhamid Mubarak and Mohammed Al-Awadi achieved a new milestone for Kuwaiti tennis by reaching the doubles semifinals of the ongoing Portugal International Professional Tennis Championship, held in Evora, Portugal, and running until the 23rd of this month. They advanced after defeating the pair of American player Alexander Bravo and his Portuguese partner Diego Coelho in the quarterfinals, winning in straight sets.

In the semifinals, Mubarak and Al-Awadi will face the Italian duo of Fabrizio Andaloro and Andrea Colombo.

The tournament features a field of professional players representing 14 countries from around the world.

Abdulridha Al-Gharib, chairman of the Tennis Federation board and a former national team star, called the two players to congratulate them on reaching the semifinals and wished them success in their upcoming matches. He stated that this important victory continues the national team’s tradition of achievements and consistent podium finishes.

Al-Gharib thanked the Public Authority for Youth and Sports for its ongoing support of the national tennis teams’ participation in international and continental championships across all age groups.
