Sisi: Our position is firm in supporting Libya's stability

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm stance toward Libya, which is based on the necessity of preserving its unity, working to unify its institutions, and supporting the holding of parliamentary and presidential elections there. This came during President el-Sisi’s reception yesterday of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, in the presence of General Khalid Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Libyan National Army, M. Balqasem Haftar, Chairman of the Libya Reconstruction Fund, and Minister Hassan Rashad, Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service. The official spokesperson for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that President el-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s steadfast support for Libya’s security and stability, its backing of initiatives in this regard, and its commitment to achieving security, development, and prosperity in Libya, while ensuring its unity and territorial integrity. For his part, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar appreciated the significant efforts Egypt is making to support peace, security, and stability in the region generally, and in Libya in particular. He affirmed his support for initiatives aimed at achieving security and stability in Libya and preserving its unity, noting his commitment to continuing coordination with Cairo to address various shared challenges and to achieve comprehensive development in Libya.
