Who will snatch the second qualification spot for next season’s Premier League? That is what tonight’s matches, the final round of the 21st in the competition, will reveal. The Sahel team had already announced its qualification after securing the first spot by reaching 44 points, leaving the battle for the second spot tonight between three contenders: Salibikhaat, Yarmouk, and Al-Jazira, each with its own scenario.
Today, Salibikhaat, with 41 points, will face Al-Jazira, which has 38 points, at the Nasser Al-Asimi Stadium. Meanwhile, Yarmouk, with 40 points, will take on Sahel at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium.
Salibikhaat needs a victory to qualify, and a draw would suffice if Yarmouk loses to Sahel. Yarmouk, on the other hand, must defeat Sahel while hoping Salibikhaat drops points. Yarmouk could also qualify if it draws and Al-Jazira wins, as its tally would rise to 41 points, level with Salibikhaat, but with the advantage in head-to-head results.
Al-Jazira needs to win first, along with a Yarmouk loss, in which case it would advance on head-to-head superiority over Salibikhaat. If all three teams finish on 41 points, Al-Jazira would claim the spot if it defeats Salibikhaat and Yarmouk draws with Sahel, as Al-Jazira would hold the best head-to-head record among them.
Meanwhile, the round will conclude with two matches unrelated to the promotion race: Khaitan, with 24 points, will face Shamya, with 10 points, while Burqan, with 20 points, will play SporTee, with 6 points.
