The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced that Bayt al-Zakat has contributed US$1 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, in support of efforts to address priority needs and enhance the country’s capacity to respond to emergency situations. In a statement, the Fund clarified that the contribution will bolster available resources to finance priority interventions and projects, based on needs identified by relevant government authorities after their review and assessment. This includes the repair and rehabilitation of damaged facilities, as well as supporting the continuity of essential and vital services. Bayt al-Zakat is a public authority with an independent budget, established in 1982 to collect, develop, and distribute zakat and charitable contributions in accordance with Islamic law, thereby promoting social solidarity and serving society. Its charitable and humanitarian activities and projects extend both within Kuwait and abroad. The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was launched on July 5 last year, initiated by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and approved by the Council of Ministers. The Kuwait Fund will manage and oversee the Fund’s operations, aiming to provide a financing mechanism to support priority interventions and projects and to address emergency needs.
