Unprecedented Kuwaiti Achievement: Wad Al-Azmi Represents Asia on the Youth Committee of the World Blind Union

Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaili stated that the selection of Wada Al-Azmi as a member of the Youth Committee of the World Blind Union to represent the Asian continent marks the first achievement of its kind for Kuwait and the Gulf region, reflecting the ability of Kuwaiti youth to participate and represent their country at international forums and enhancing Kuwait’s standing and reputation for supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
Minister Al-Huwaili emphasized in a press statement following her meeting with Wada Al-Azmi her commitment to continuing support for persons with disabilities, empowering them, and providing opportunities for their active participation at both local and international levels, thereby highlighting their capabilities and contributions across various fields.
She added that Al-Azmi’s selection was part of the Youth Committee, which comprises six representatives, each representing one of the world’s continents.
She further explained that during the meeting, she learned about the role of the World Blind Union, which includes hundreds of organizations from more than 190 countries and represents approximately 335 million blind and visually impaired people worldwide, working to promote their rights, empower them, and ensure their full participation in society.
