Ministry of Electricity: Tenders Authority accepts 5 bids to compete for "underground cables" to supply two substations in "Um Ghmar"
Darine Al-Ali The Central Tenders Board last Monday approved five bids to compete for the contract to supply, install, and lay underground cables to feed two main substations in the Um Al-Amar industrial area and strengthen the electrical grid.
The Board will forward the five bids to the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy to prepare a technical study and recommendation within 30 days, after which they will be returned to the Board to make a decision on awarding the contract to the bid that complies with the technical specifications.
This tender comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to provide the necessary energy required for the expansion of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage electrical networks in the industrial sector and other sectors, particularly the Um Al-Amar industrial area, which is one of the most important industrial zones witnessing annual expansions due to the increasing number of factories and activities. This leads to rising energy demand rates while ensuring continuity without interruptions, which will be provided by the cables to be supplied after the contract is signed.
