Sultan Al-Abdan Kuwaiti News Agency learned that the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies has urgently addressed the boards of directors of the cooperative societies regarding the completion of procedures for Kuwaitizing the position of Supply Branch Manager, one of the support roles, in implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and the policy of replacing foreign workers and Kuwaitizing jobs in the cooperative sector.
According to the circular, the Union emphasized the necessity for the executive bodies of the cooperatives to review the Ministry’s letter, particularly the part concerning prioritizing national talents for the position of Supply Branch Manager, in line with the state’s direction toward enhancing citizen participation in the cooperative sector, empowering them to hold supervisory and support positions, and raising institutional performance efficiency.
The circular confirmed that the position of Supply Branch Manager cannot be held by a non-Kuwaiti as long as a Kuwaiti candidate meeting the job requirements is available, with priority given to national talents working within the cooperatives during the nomination and appointment procedures.
In the event that a cooperative lacks a national talent qualified for the position, it must notify the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor of the reasons for the unavailability, so that coordination can be made with relevant authorities to provide suitable national talents.
A subsequent circular issued by the Union revealed that the matter was considered urgent, as the cooperatives were requested to implement the Ministry’s letter and were given a 30-day deadline from the date of the circular to take the necessary measures, with updates to be provided to the concerned authorities on the actions taken.
This comes within a broader trend to Kuwaitize support positions in cooperative societies. Previously, 45 support positions were announced in 15 cooperative societies through the “Fakhrana” platform, as part of a plan to replace foreign workers with national personnel and enhance employment opportunities for citizens in the cooperative sector.
