Citizen Shocked by Dozens of Accumulated Traffic Violations Demanding Thousands of Dinars!
A security source told Al-Anbaa that a woman in her fifties was surprised during a security operation to be required to pay a large sum of money for traffic violations registered in her name, after being stopped to verify her details. Security inquiries revealed an extended “barner” (record) containing a large number of various violations.
The source explained that security officers, after entering the woman’s data into the Ministry of Interior’s automated system, were surprised to find dozens of violations registered in her name, ranging from speeding and running red lights to other traffic offenses, with a total amount of thousands of dinars due.
He noted that the large number of violations puzzled security officers, and it remains unclear whether all the violations were recorded on a single vehicle or on several vehicles registered in the woman’s name.
The source added that relevant authorities will investigate the details and circumstances surrounding the registration of such a volume of violations, particularly the vehicles involved, the time periods during which they were committed, and the reasons for their non-settlement in the past.
He mentioned that the woman informed security officers that she is not proficient in using the “Sahel” application, which may be one of the reasons she was unaware of the notifications regarding the violations registered in her name.
Relevant authorities are continuing their procedures to verify the details and circumstances of the accumulation of these violations, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has urged citizens and residents to expedite the settlement of traffic violation amicable settlement orders before they are referred to the Traffic Court.
In a statement published on its official account, the ministry said that if a violation is referred to the Traffic Court, it may result in legally prescribed penalties, including fines or imprisonment, as well as administrative measures, depending on the nature of the violation and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
