35,601 violations, 1,046 accidents, and 29 drug-related and "abnormal" cases in a week
The Operations Sector’s statistics revealed the apprehension of 59 wanted individuals and 15 wanted vehicles, along with 83 individuals who violated residency laws, during the period from August 9 to 16. The statistics showed that security operations also resulted in the apprehension of 12 individuals suspected of possessing narcotics, as well as 17 individuals involved in abnormal situations; all were referred to the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics, bringing the total number of referrals in these cases to 29 individuals.
On the traffic front, Emergency Police officers issued 2,009 traffic violations and referred 29 vehicles to the impound lot for their drivers’ serious traffic offenses. They also handled 138 reports of traffic accidents.
Conversely, the General Directorate of Traffic’s campaign results showed the issuance of 33,592 traffic violations and the referral of 26 individuals to preventive detention at the Traffic Department, along with the referral of eight juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without a valid license. Traffic officers also referred 640 vehicles and eight motorcycles to the impound lot for committing serious traffic violations.
Regarding accidents, Traffic officers handled 908 collision incidents, of which 764 resulted only in material damage and 144 resulted in injuries or fatalities. Meanwhile, Emergency Police handled 138 reports of traffic accidents, bringing the total number of traffic incidents and reports handled by the Operations Sector during the statistical period to 1,046 incidents and reports.
Traffic and security campaigns also resulted in the apprehension of 40 wanted individuals and 25 wanted vehicles, who were transferred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions.
Thus, the total number of traffic violations issued by Traffic and Emergency Police officers during the week reached 35,601, while the total number of vehicles referred to impoundment amounted to 694 vehicles, in addition to eight motorcycles.
