Al Jazeera expands its route network in Egypt and launches flights to Aswan

Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost carrier in Kuwait, has announced the launch of direct flights between Kuwait and Aswan, a new step that expands its network of destinations in Egypt, offering travelers new options and easier access to one of the country’s most prominent historical destinations. The airline will operate this new route between Kuwait International Airport and Aswan International Airport starting October 25, with four weekly flights.
For his part, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Kuwait, Mohamed Jaber Abu Al-Wafa, said: “I am pleased to join Jazeera Airways today in launching its new route to Aswan, making it the airline’s ninth destination in Egypt. This step reflects the depth of Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations and the importance of the Egyptian market within Jazeera Airways’ network. On this occasion, I congratulate the company’s management and team on inaugurating the new route, and I appreciate their ongoing interest in the Egyptian market and their expansion into various Egyptian cities, which demonstrates the strength of travel flows and the ties between our two countries. We also appreciate the generous care that the sister state of Kuwait extends to the Egyptian community on its soil.”
He added: “We view direct air routes as more than just a means of transportation; they are bridges connecting peoples and an important tool for stimulating tourism, trade, investment, and cultural and social exchange. The easier movement between Egypt and Kuwait becomes, the broader the opportunities for cooperation in all fields, and the stronger the popular, economic, and commercial ties between our two brotherly nations.”
He continued: “Choosing Aswan as the new Egyptian destination holds special significance. Aswan is not only one of Egypt’s leading tourist and cultural destinations, with its rich history, unique antiquities, and stunning natural scenery along the Nile banks, but it also serves as an important gateway to southern Egypt and a cultural and economic center with significant and diverse potential. This route also carries direct humanitarian and social importance, given the large Egyptian community in Kuwait, including many residents from Aswan Governorate and other Upper Egyptian governorates. Therefore, providing direct flights from Kuwait to Aswan will offer suitable travel alternatives for members of the Egyptian community and their families, saving time and effort, and strengthening continuous communication between them and their homeland and families.”
Jazeera Airways currently operates flights to eight destinations in Egypt, including Cairo, Sphinx, Alexandria, Assiut, Luxor, Sohag, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Hurghada. With the launch of flights to Aswan, the airline’s ninth destination in Egypt, Jazeera Airways is strengthening its extensive presence in the Egyptian market, which is one of its most important markets.
The new route provides a direct and comfortable connection for the large Egyptian community living and working in Kuwait, facilitating their travel to visit family and friends, while also supporting the growing tourism movement between Kuwait and southern Egypt.
Pratheep Basupathy, Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways, said: “There are more than 690,000 Egyptians residing in Kuwait, making the Egyptian community the second-largest Arab community there. Egypt has always been a key market for Jazeera Airways. Since launching our flights to Alexandria in 2006, we have continued to expand our presence in the Egyptian market, and today we serve eight cities across the country. We are pleased to expand our network today to nine cities in Egypt with the launch of our direct flights to Aswan, where our growing presence across Egypt reflects the strong and continuous demand for competitive-priced travel options with ease and comfort between Kuwait and Egypt.”
He added: “Aswan is a distinctive addition to our destination network, providing an important direct connection for families and communities, while simultaneously offering easier access to one of Egypt’s most unique tourist destinations.”
Located on the banks of the Nile in southern Egypt, Aswan is renowned for its rich history, Nubian heritage, and stunning natural landscapes. The city also serves as a gateway to a number of Egypt’s most prominent historical and cultural landmarks, including the Abu Simbel temples, the Philae Temple, and the surrounding Nubian villages.
With the Aswan route, Jazeera Airways continues to enhance air connectivity between Kuwait and Egypt by serving multiple destinations across the country, providing customers with greater flexibility and broader travel options, whether for visiting family and friends, business purposes, or tourism.
Flights to Aswan will be available for booking through Jazeera Airways’ website and its mobile app.
