He beat his wife, so the Juvenile Court sentenced him to imprisonment and a 300 dinar bail.
A misdemeanor court sentenced an accused man to one month in prison, suspended with a financial bail of 300 dinars, pending the finalization of the judgment, in a case in which he is accused of beating his wife and damaging her vehicle. The wife had filed a complaint stating that her husband assaulted her, an act confirmed by the investigations, and that he also damaged parts of her car. The court clarified in the reasoning of its judgment that it was satisfied with the evidence presented, including the victim’s statements, the testimony of the detective officer, the findings of inspection reports and technical evidence, as well as the facts related to the incident documented during the investigations. The court noted that the evidence was corroborative and mutually supportive, thereby confirming the occurrence of the incident and attributing it to the accused. It emphasized that the assessment of evidence and the weighing of witness testimonies are matters within the exclusive purview of the trial court, provided that the conclusions drawn are sound and based on established elements in the case file. On his part, lawyer Khalil Haydar, representing the victim, said the judgment represents an important step toward securing justice for his client and affirming the assault she endured. He stressed that respect for judicial rulings and the victims’ right to protection and justice remain fundamental in such cases, and that the outcome will be handled in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures.
