Artist Yasser Jalal expressed his deep anger over the transgressions of some social media users toward artists, emphasizing that the issue has gone beyond criticizing artistic works or public figures to invade private lives and families. He stated that what has been happening on social media platforms in recent times has exceeded acceptable limits, noting that some individuals’ overreach toward artists and their families cannot be dismissed as mere opinions or criticisms.
In a television interview, Jalal added that the situation has escalated significantly, leaving him in a state of shock, particularly after the abuse extended beyond the artist himself to his family members and private life. He affirmed that the Egyptian audience is known for its moderation and respect for artists, and he considered those committing such transgressions to be unrepresentative of the true public. He stressed that a serious stance must be taken against what is happening.
