Al Meezan continues to reinforce sustainability as a core element of its corporate strategy and operational processes, adopting an integrated approach that combines enhancing resource efficiency, strengthening community responsibility, and implementing best governance practices. This contributes to achieving a lasting positive impact and creating long-term value for society and stakeholders. The company’s comprehensive sustainability strategy integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into all stages of project planning, design, implementation, and operation, ensuring that growth and expansion align with sustainable development principles.
Reflecting its performance progress in environmental, social, and governance areas, Al Meezan has strengthened its presence among leading global specialized sustainability assessments. It received a BBB rating from MSCI, a score of 40 in S&P Global’s ESG rating, a score of 20.21 from Sustainalytics, a score of 2.2 from LSEG Data & Analytics, and a score of 68 from CSRHub. Supporting the “Save” Campaign
Avenues launched the “Impact Starts with You” campaign across its social media platforms, aiming to encourage community members to adopt simple daily practices that help reduce energy consumption. Avenues’ efforts in this regard extended to its tenants, engaging them and urging support for energy conservation measures such as setting air conditioning temperatures to 24 degrees Celsius and minimizing screen usage in stores as much as possible, thereby reducing unnecessary consumption.
Operationally, Avenues continues implementing a range of measures aimed at improving energy efficiency. Approximately 95% of Avenues’ lighting has been converted to energy-efficient LED bulbs, which consume less energy than traditional bulbs. Additionally, motion sensors have been installed in prayer rooms and service corridors to ensure lighting operates only when needed.
Supporting Government Entities
In addition to its environmental initiatives, Avenues Kuwait continues playing its role as an active community platform by providing spaces for government entities and non-governmental organizations to host events and campaigns aligned with social responsibility initiatives.
Events held at Avenues Kuwait have achieved significant success, engagement, and visitor turnout. These include the “Be Aware” event organized by the Ministry of Interior to enhance security awareness, the “A Country That Protects You” anti-drug campaign by the Ministry of Social Affairs, the “Guide Me” campaign by the Ministry of Higher Education, and university admission awareness campaigns involving the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Kuwait University, and the General Directorate of Private Education.
In support of applied education and raising awareness among new generations about sustainability issues, Avenues hosted field trips for students of the 47th Summer Training Course organized by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. These trips aimed to enrich the students’ training experience and introduce them to Avenues’ practices in recycling, sustainability, and resource management efficiency.
LEED Certifications
Al Meezan’s commitment to green building standards extends to several of its current and future projects. Four projects have received LEED certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council. Avenues was the first commercial complex in Kuwait to achieve the Gold certification, while the Aventura, Sabah Market, and Avenues Al Khobar projects received pre-certification in the Gold category. Projects holding LEED certification or pre-certification account for approximately 40.55% of Al Meezan’s total investment portfolio by area.
Diamond Rating in the “Mazeez” Initiative
In an achievement reflecting the commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment, Avenues Kuwait received the Diamond rating in the “Mazeez” Commercial Complex Health Project, with an evaluation score of 99%. This is among the highest ratings achieved by commercial complexes across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The rating resulted from Avenues’ adherence to established standards in environmental health, safety, health awareness, and promoting healthy lifestyles, following an on-site inspection and comprehensive evaluation conducted by specialized GCC teams.
“Great Place to Work” Certification
Al Meezan’s sustainability approach extends to investing in human capital. The company received the globally recognized “Great Place to Work” certification for the GCC region for the years 2025–2026.
Electronic Sustainability Report
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and responsible disclosure, Al Meezan issued its ninth Sustainability Report for 2025 under the theme “Sustainable Destinations and Thriving Neighborhoods.” The report underscores that sustainability is not merely a阶段性 goal but a long-term corporate commitment embedded across all operations and projects.
The report highlights the company’s key achievements and performance in environmental, social, and governance areas, prepared in accordance with leading global standards. The electronic publication of the report aligns with the company’s approach to environmental conservation, resource conservation, and enhancing sustainable disclosure practices.
Furthermore, in November 2025, Al Meezan signed Kuwait’s first green loan agreement worth KD 25 million with National Bank of Kuwait to finance the Sabah Market project. This financing reflects the company’s commitment to directing investments toward projects that meet sustainability, green building, and resource efficiency standards.
