Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan condemns Iranian drone attack on his office: Unacceptable threat to the region's security and stability

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, condemned the attacks carried out by Iranian drones that targeted his personal office and the residence of the head of the Peshmerga Protection Agency (Barastin) in Erbil Governorate, describing the assault as “a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.”
In a post published on his official account on the X platform, Barzani stated, “Based on investigations conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Unit in Kurdistan, it has been determined that my personal office and the home of the head of the Security and Intelligence Agency were targeted by Iranian drone attacks.”
He added, “I strongly condemn these reckless and unacceptable attacks. This is a serious escalation and an explicit threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region.”
Masrour Barzani reaffirmed his government’s firm stance, stating, “These attacks will never deter us from continuing our duties and fulfilling our commitment to protecting our citizens.”
The Counter-Terrorism Agency of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq had previously announced that the office of the regional Prime Minister and the residence of the head of the Protection Agency in the Piramam district of Erbil Governorate were targeted by two bomb-laden drones, with no casualties reported.
The agency stated that the attack occurred at 4:00 a.m. yesterday, when two Houdong-110 type bomb-laden drones were launched from Iranian territory toward the designated targets, emphasizing that the attack resulted in no injuries or loss of life.
