stc and the Coast Guard Enhance Awareness of Maritime Safety and Environmental Protection in Failaka Island

In line with its ongoing commitment to supporting the community and raising awareness about safe and responsible practices, Kuwaiti telecommunications company stc, a leader in enabling digital transformation and delivering innovative solutions and services in Kuwait, organized a community initiative in collaboration with the Coast Guard on Failaka Island. The initiative focused on enhancing maritime safety awareness and encouraging environmentally responsible practices among visitors to Kuwait’s islands and beaches.

The initiative coincided with the summer season, which sees increasing interest in maritime trips, coastal destinations, and Kuwaiti islands. Its goal was to deliver direct awareness messages to community members about the importance of adhering to maritime safety guidelines, preparing adequately for trips, and preserving the cleanliness of marine and natural environments.

The initiative featured participation from an stc team alongside Coast Guard representatives, who engaged with island visitors to raise awareness about the importance of following safety guidelines during maritime trips, ensuring proper preparation before sailing—including providing essential safety equipment and complying with instructions and guidelines issued by competent authorities.

As part of the initiative’s accompanying activities, a team of stc employees participated in a cleanup campaign on Failaka Island, a step aimed at promoting environmental conservation culture and encouraging community members to adopt more sustainable practices.

Specialized waste collection bags were distributed to island visitors to encourage them to maintain cleanliness and dispose of waste responsibly. The initiative also included the distribution of various safety supplies, including first-aid kits, moisturizers, and gifts, aiming to enhance visitors’ experience and reinforce awareness messages related to safety and environmental responsibility in an interactive and direct manner.

This initiative falls within stc’s framework of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, which focuses on supporting initiatives that deliver tangible positive impact on the community and raise awareness about issues affecting people’s daily lives, including public safety and environmental conservation.
