A security source confirmed that directives have been issued to all traffic patrol units, emergency response teams, general security forces, and traffic investigations departments to intensify scrutiny of violations involving the crossing of lane markings and to place them under close examination.

The source, in a statement to “Al-Anbaa,” said these measures follow instructions issued months ago to place a “block” on vehicles found guilty of such violations and to reject any settlement orders regarding them. He noted that the directives began to be implemented practically yesterday through an intensive traffic campaign.

He clarified that traffic officers issued 115 direct violations during the campaign, requiring drivers of offending vehicles to leave their vehicles behind, while Ministry of Interior tow trucks transported them to an impound lot for a month.

The source added that the campaign also resulted in recording five indirect violations via surveillance cameras, with “blocks” placed on the vehicles and offenders compelled to surrender them to the impound lot in accordance with standard procedures. He pointed out that those caught committing direct violations represent various nationalities, including Kuwaiti citizens, and that the vehicles targeted ranged from private cars to commercial transport vehicles.

The General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Security Control Department, carried out a traffic campaign to monitor and apprehend violations related to the rules and conditions of lane changing, under the supervision of Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Azmi, Head of the Operations and Traffic Sector, and the command of Brigadier General Rashid Al-Hajeri, Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic. The campaign focused on violations that pose a danger to road users, particularly the illegal crossing of lane markings in violation of traffic rules and etiquette, given that such behaviors disrupt traffic flow and increase the likelihood of accidents.

According to a statement published by the General Directorate of Traffic on the “X” platform, the campaign resulted in the issuance of 115 direct traffic violations and five indirect violations. Vehicles involved in direct violations were referred to the traffic impound lot for 30 days, while “blocks” were placed on the five vehicles whose violations were recorded by surveillance cameras.

The General Directorate of Traffic emphasized the continuation of its monitoring and security campaigns on various roads to detect violations and address them in accordance with the law, thereby enhancing traffic discipline and contributing to curbing behaviors that threaten the safety of drivers and road users.
