Bahrain and Greece Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and Implications of the Closure of the Strait of Hormuz

Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Gerapetritis, on Sunday to discuss regional developments and the repercussions of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz on maritime navigation, international trade, and the global economy. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two ministers reviewed prospects for enhancing consultation and joint coordination during their countries’ membership on the UN Security Council, with regard to issues under discussion by the Council, as well as examining matters of mutual interest. The statement added that the call also addressed the close friendship ties between the two friendly nations, the development and growth of bilateral cooperation across various fields, and ways to strengthen these ties in a manner that serves shared interests.
