Eight Arab and Islamic countries condemn Israel's rejection of the road map regarding Gaza
Cairo - Khadija Hamouda Egypt and seven Arab and Islamic countries condemned on Sunday Israel’s rejection of the roadmap to complete the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, warning that it would undermine peace efforts in the region.
The statement was issued jointly by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, Indonesia, and Pakistan, and was distributed by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign ministers affirmed in the statement that Israel’s rejection constitutes a direct rejection of the comprehensive plan endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, threatening its implementation and undermining collective efforts to achieve peace in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministers stressed that Israel now bears responsibility for obstructing efforts to bring peace to Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
They also clarified that the roadmap, accepted by Palestinian factions after intensive efforts by mediators and the United States, represents a crucial milestone for implementing the comprehensive plan, including the disarmament of factions, simultaneous withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, deployment of an international stabilization force, transfer of administrative authority to the National Authority for the Governance of Gaza, and reconstruction of the Strip.
They warned that rejecting the roadmap threatens to derail the intensive efforts undertaken by President Trump to end the war in Gaza and create the necessary conditions for a lasting peace.
They further emphasized the importance of continued active US engagement to ensure and compel Israel to fully comply with the commitments and arrangements stipulated in the comprehensive plan and its accompanying roadmap, and to prevent any further obstruction to their implementation.
The ministers also affirmed that Israel bears direct and full responsibility for any consequences arising from its continued rejection, obstruction, delay, or non-compliance, including any deterioration in the situation on the ground and any disruption to efforts to end the war in Gaza.
They reiterated the urgent need for the full and immediate implementation of the comprehensive plan, which would help address the dire humanitarian situation, ensure security and stability for all in Gaza, and pave the way for reconstruction and recovery.
The ministers unequivocally rejected any attempt to deny the establishment of a Palestinian state or to prevent its realization, including through unilateral measures, affirming that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers also stressed the importance of continuing the role of the Peace Council and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the roadmap and advance the implementation of the second phase of President Trump’s comprehensive plan.
They also urged the Peace Council to take immediate and concrete measures within its mandate to ensure the preservation of the comprehensive plan and to prevent any party from obstructing its implementation.
