Theft of 4 paintings by Renaissance artist Da Messina

The Italian Ministry of Culture announced that four paintings of “exceptional value” by the renowned artist Antonello da Messina, a pioneer of the Renaissance, were stolen from a museum in Sicily. The theft occurred the night before yesterday at a museum in Messina, the artist’s birthplace, and involved three panels from a 15th-century multi-part altarpiece.
