After presenting 30 theatrical performances, the plays of “Al-Dakan” (The Shop), staged at the Al-Salmiya Sports Club Theatre, concluded. The play was written and directed by Mohammed Al-Humli, with a script by Haya Ahmed, and starred Abdullah Al-Khader, Mohammed Al-Humli, Hessa Al-Nabhani, Abdulmohsen Al-Omar, Nasser Al-Baloushi, Abdulaziz Al-Saadoun, Hussein Al-Mahanna, Meshal Al-Farhan, Shahd Khasraw, Khaled Al-Daihani, and Abdulaziz Kizar.
The play carries a traditional heritage theme presented in a comedic style. Its events unfold in several shops in an old market, centering on the characters’ greed for one person’s shop, which creates a series of comedic and humanistic situations.
The play’s set is grand and evokes the past, featuring detailed designs of a traditional house, a shop, a home, and a market. The director, Mohammed Al-Humli, also excelled in staging the scenes depicting the house and the sea.
All cast members delivered outstanding performances, particularly in the comedic scenes, with Al-Khader, Al-Saadoun, and Al-Daihani standing out. The production also featured songs performed by the artist Sultan Muftah. Currently, Al-Humli’s “Dakan” (Band) has closed its doors indefinitely.
