The Kuwait Stock Exchange closed relatively stable at the end of yesterday’s trading session, amid a climate of caution driven by geopolitical developments in the region, stalled US-Iran negotiations to end the war, and the failure of oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to fully return to normal levels.

The General Market Index ended the session with a slight gain of 0.03%, adding 2.76 points to close at 8,841.71 points. During this period, the exchange saw the trading of 335.6 million shares with a total value of 86 million dinars, executed through 18,921 transactions.

Performance among the Kuwait Stock Exchange indices was mixed. The Main Market Index rose by 0.35%, gaining 31.01 points to reach 8,896.31 points, with 206.3 million shares traded across 12,627 transactions valued at 41.4 million dinars.

Conversely, the First Market Index recorded a modest decline of 0.03%, losing 3.11 points to close at 9,294.75 points, after 129.3 million shares were traded through 6,294 transactions valued at 44.6 million dinars.

The “Main 50” Index posted the strongest performance among the exchange’s indices during the session, rising by 0.84% and adding 87.49 points to reach 10,512.01 points, with 161.3 million shares traded through 9,065 transactions valued at 33.1 million dinars.

The near-stable close of the General Market reflects the balance that characterized trading, as the Kuwait Stock Exchange maintained its levels despite ongoing regional uncertainty. The Main Market outperformed the First Market, coinciding with total liquidity of 86 million dinars.

The exchange’s performance aligned with a positive trend dominating most Gulf stock markets during yesterday’s session, despite continued uncertainty stemming from stalled US-Iran negotiations and the incomplete resumption of oil tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

In Saudi Arabia, the standard market index rose by 0.9%, while the Qatar Exchange index climbed by 0.24% to close at 10,045.18 points, with trading volume in the Qatari market reaching 299.18 million riyal across 20,108 transactions. The Omani index also rose by 0.3%, whereas the Bahraini index fell by 0.1%. Gulf market movements remained varied, though they generally leaned upward despite ongoing anticipation surrounding political and security developments in the region.
