Electricity Authority: Tenders Authority approves two amendments to the maintenance tender for Main Substations worth KD 5.331 million

Darine Al-Ali: The Board of Directors of the Central Tenders Committee approved, by a majority of its members, the request from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy to award two of three lots related to the tender for the maintenance and repair of main 11/33 kV substations, with a total cost of 5.331 million dinars.

Approval was granted for the first lot at a cost of 2.961 million dinars, awarded to the third lowest bidder, and for the second lot at a cost of 2.370 million dinars, also awarded to the third lowest bidder. The decision on the third lot was deferred to a future meeting for further study. The Committee excluded the lowest bids as they did not comply with the required conditions and specifications.

It is worth noting that the works for these two lots are part of the Ministry’s concerted efforts to carry out periodic maintenance of main substations to enhance their operational efficiency and extend their service life, particularly since these substations are responsible for transmitting electricity from power and desalination plants to secondary substations distributed across residential areas.

In a separate development, the Ministry is seeking to finalize the procedures for launching a tender for the construction, completion, and maintenance of a 1600 mm diameter fresh water pipeline from Abdullah Port Complex to West Al-Fanitees Complex, and a 1200 mm diameter slightly saline water pipeline from Abdullah Port Complex to Al-Zour Complex, along with related works. This project is scheduled to be implemented through the Water Projects Sector and includes the construction of two 1600 mm diameter fresh water pipelines and one 1200 mm diameter slightly saline water pipeline.
