Hurricane Lala strikes the US state of Hawaii, cutting off electricity to more than 20,000 households

Cyclone Lala brushed the southern tip of Hawaii amid heavy rainfall and fierce winds in this U.S. state located in the Pacific Ocean.
The storm Lala intensified to become a Category 1 hurricane, with winds reaching speeds of 120 kilometers per hour.
Authorities warned that heavy rains could “cause floods and mudslides that may be deadly, especially in rugged areas.”
The cyclone left more than 20,000 households in Hawaii without electricity.
Hawaii rarely experiences hurricanes.
