“Wadi al-Nil” sets sail for Egypt, while “Wadi al-Qamar” prepares to depart

After Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamal al-Wezair, witnessed the ceremony for the handover of two new vessels to the National Navigation Company from the global Chinese shipyard New Hantong, the vessel “Wadi al-Nil” is currently sailing towards Egypt, while the vessel “Wadi al-Qamar” is preparing to sail towards Egypt. The handover of the two vessels comes as part of the Egyptian state’s efforts to support and modernize the national commercial fleet and enhance its competitiveness in regional and international markets.
The two large dry bulk carriers, “Wadi al-Nil” and “Wadi al-Qamar,” are identical in all technical specifications, belonging to the Kamsarmax class. Each vessel has a deadweight tonnage of 82,000 tons, a length of 229 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, and a draft of 14.5 meters. The design and construction of the two vessels incorporated the latest global technologies to enhance operational efficiency and improve fuel consumption efficiency, making them among the most advanced ships in the Egyptian commercial fleet.
Each vessel is equipped with a main MAN B&W engine with a power output of 7,490 kilowatts, fitted with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to reduce emissions, ensuring compliance with the latest international environmental requirements.
The two vessels are also equipped with Ballast Water Management Systems, which contribute to preserving the marine environment and reducing the transfer of marine organisms between different ecosystems. They comply with all environmental regulations and international conventions. Additionally, the vessels are fitted with the latest integrated navigation systems, modern communication devices, and advanced engine performance monitoring and control systems, thereby enhancing safety levels and operational efficiency.
Each vessel has a fuel capacity of 2,054 cubic meters, enabling continuous sailing for up to 90 days without stopping. They are also equipped with a comprehensive seawater desalination plant with a production capacity of 20 tons per day, ensuring the fulfillment of their operational needs during long sea voyages.
