Kuwait condemns the reprehensible Iranian attack on vessels belonging to ADNOC: a blatant violation of international law
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and rejection of the Iranian attack on vessels belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, in a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry emphasized that the recurrence of such attacks constitutes a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, global energy supplies, and international trade. It reiterated its call for the immediate cessation of all escalatory actions and for adherence to the rules of international law that guarantee freedom of navigation.
The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the sisterly State of the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures undertaken by the UAE to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security, and defend its interests.
Furthermore, the Ministry expressed Kuwait’s solidarity with the friendly Republic of Indonesia following the earthquake that struck the country, resulting in casualties and injuries, as well as significant material losses. In its statement, the Ministry conveyed Kuwait’s deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the government and people of the friendly Republic of Indonesia, as well as to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
The Ministry also condemned and rejected the escalation of attacks by extremist settlers in the occupied West Bank, including systematic violence against innocent civilians. It clarified that these attacks are an extension of the Israeli occupation’s policies aimed at escalating violence against the brotherly Palestinian people, representing a blatant violation of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
The Ministry stressed in its statement that these attacks reflect the Israeli occupation’s approach of enabling extremist settlers to continue their violations and crimes against the brotherly Palestinian people under the protection of occupation forces, thereby undermining prospects for peace. It called on the international community to take urgent action to halt these attacks and hold their perpetrators accountable.
The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s firm position supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is the establishment of their independent state with 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
On another note, the Ministry expressed Kuwait’s solidarity and sympathy with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt following a traffic accident that occurred in Ismailia Governorate, which resulted in casualties and injuries. The Ministry conveyed Kuwait’s deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the Arab Republic of Egypt, its government and people, and to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
