Our Ambassador in New Delhi: Relations with India trace their roots to epochs and eras of commercial, cultural, and human exchange

Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shammari, affirmed the strength and depth of Kuwait-India relations during his participation in the annual celebrations held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, marking India’s 80th Independence Day.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Embassy in New Delhi said that Ambassador Al-Shammari attended the Independence Day ceremonies and festivities following an invitation from the President of India, with the presence of senior Indian government officials, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions in New Delhi, and a select group of business leaders and activists in cultural and social fields.

Ambassador Al-Shammari conveyed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the leadership and friendly people of the Republic of India, praising the Indian people’s journey toward freedom, progress, prosperity, and pluralism, which have characterized India over the decades.

Seizing the occasion, Al-Shammari reaffirmed the solid, historically rooted ties between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of India, whose roots extend back through long periods of commercial, cultural, and human exchanges prior to the establishment of diplomatic relations in their current form in the early 1960s. He highlighted the continued bright historical trajectory of bilateral relations between Kuwait and India across political, economic, investment, and mutually beneficial fields.

The ambassador appreciated the positive role played by the Indian community residing in Kuwait, which serves as a living bridge of communication between the two friendly peoples.

He noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening existing cooperation through the Kuwait-India Strategic Partnership, encouraged by the leaderships of both countries. He stressed the importance of deepening this partnership, fostering its prosperity, and expanding its horizons within the framework of mutual respect, in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
