Finance Minister Calls on Congressional Delegation and "Task Force" to Pressure Israel to Comply with the Agreement: No Peace Without Justice

Finance Minister Yassin Jaber received IMF Resident Representative in Lebanon Frederico Lima on a farewell visit. Lima expressed the Fund’s satisfaction with the Parliament’s approval of amendments to the bank restructuring law, and expressed hope that “the financial gap law will be enacted in the near future.” Jaber emphasized “the government’s and Parliament’s resolve to complete the required reforms, particularly those related to reviving the economy and the financial and banking sectors, thereby contributing to restoring confidence in Lebanon.” In another statement, while receiving members of the US Congress and the “Task Force for Lebanon,” Jaber called for pressuring Israel to adhere to the US-brokered agreement within the framework of negotiations, enabling Lebanon to consolidate stability and embark on a path of recovery and reconstruction. Jaber stated, “There is no peace without justice,” affirming that sustainable peace cannot be achieved without respecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and rights, and creating the political and security conditions that allow Lebanon to regain its health and role.
