Qatar strongly condemns the Iranian attack on two Emirati oil tankers while transiting the Strait of Hormuz

The State of Qatar strongly condemned the Iranian attack targeting two Emirati oil tankers owned by ADNOC as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, deeming it a blatant violation of international law and freedom of maritime navigation, and a flagrant breach of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. In a statement released by the official news agency, QNA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm rejection of using the Strait of Hormuz as a pressure tool, calling for its reopening without conditions. The Ministry also affirmed that freedom of navigation through this vital waterway is a firm principle that admits no compromise, and that the continued closure of the strait jeopardizes the vital interests of regional countries and the global economy. It stressed the necessity of halting unjustified Iranian attacks on the property of sister states, while reaffirming Qatar’s full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures the UAE takes to protect its assets.
