Trump imposes tariffs of up to 100% on drones and their components

U.S. President Donald Trump signed a presidential order imposing tariffs of up to 100% on imported drones and their components, an industry dominated by China.
The White House stated that the U.S. president justified the decision, signed yesterday (Thursday), as a measure to protect U.S. national security. The order imposes a 100% tariff on the import of certain drone systems, including those with a total takeoff weight exceeding 25 kilograms and equipped with capabilities such as thermal imaging.
The statement noted that the tariffs “will encourage increased domestic production” of drones and their components, and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
This move comes days after the United States imposed new tariffs on China and 59 other countries.
