US Vice President: Any deal with Iran will prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons and ensure the flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz

US Vice President JD Vance expressed confidence on Thursday that the United States would reach a resolution to the conflict with Iran that ensures Tehran does not acquire nuclear weapons while maintaining stability in the global energy market and the flow of oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.

In comments to the US Fox News network, Vance said, “I can say with confidence that this will end in a situation where the United States is in a stronger position and Iran does not possess a nuclear weapon.”

Vance emphasized Washington’s commitment to restoring the Strait of Hormuz to a state that ensures stability in oil and gas prices and the global energy market.

Regarding negotiations with Iran, Vance stated that “the problem is that Iranians sometimes make commitments they do not keep. They reach an agreement and then do not honor it.”

He stressed that the United States possesses “many tools” — diplomatic, military, and economic — that enable it to implement certain measures against Iran.

He clarified that Washington is using these tools with “selectivity and high strategic precision” to achieve the outcome desired by President Donald Trump.

Vance underscored that Trump is keen to ensure that Gulf states continue to supply oil and gas to the global economy, thereby guaranteeing stable energy prices, “which is of paramount importance to the entire world.”
