Bahrain condemns Iranian attack on two ADNOC-owned tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and outrage over the Iranian terrorist attack that targeted two tankers belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. This aggression constitutes a serious threat to regional security and stability, as well as to the safety of maritime navigation, and represents a blatant violation of the rules of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2817, as well as resolutions of the International Maritime Organization.

The Ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates, and its complete support for all measures the UAE takes to safeguard its security, stability, and vital interests. This stance is rooted in the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties binding the leaderships and peoples of the two sister countries, and underscores that the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates are an integral part of the national security of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the necessity for the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities by taking firm and deterrent measures to compel Iran to immediately cease all hostile actions, respect freedom of navigation, and ensure the security and safety of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and other international waterways. It emphasized that the Strait must not be used as a tool for economic pressure or coercion, as this is essential to safeguarding energy security, stabilizing food and pharmaceutical supply chains, ensuring the smooth flow of global trade, and consolidating security, stability, and prosperity in the region and worldwide.
