UAE: We strongly condemn the aggressive Iranian attack on two ADNOC tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates expressed its strong condemnation and outrage over the aggressive Iranian attack that targeted two ADNOC-owned tankers as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that this assault constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscores freedom of navigation and rejects the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international sea lanes. It stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic pressure or blackmail by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard constitutes acts of piracy, posing a direct threat to regional stability, its peoples, and global energy security. The UAE emphasized the necessity for Iran to halt these aggressive attacks, thereby ensuring its full commitment to ceasing all hostile acts, and to fully and unconditionally reopen the strait, thereby safeguarding regional security and the stability of the global economy and trade. ADNOC had previously announced that two of its vessels were attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of Thursday, August 13. The attack resulted in no injuries, and the situation was brought under control. ADNOC stressed the importance of protecting the safety of seafarers and ensuring freedom of navigation and maritime security. The company urged the public to obtain information solely from official sources and to avoid circulating rumors or unverified information.
