Lebanese Minister of Information: Cabinet sessions will not convene over the next two weeks; Al-Had: No truth to reports of Defense Minister's resignation

Lebanese Minister of Information Paul Maroun stated that the Cabinet will not hold its sessions over the next two weeks, noting that the Council had discussed several issues during the meeting convened at the Sraiyeh under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam.

Minister Maroun clarified that: “The Prime Minister emphasized at the outset of the Cabinet session the full condemnation and rejection of the systematic destruction operations carried out by Israel against villages in the South,” adding that these actions constitute a violation of the laws of war under the Geneva Conventions.

He further noted that: “Prime Minister Salam highlighted the National Assembly’s approval of several laws that fall within the government’s reform efforts.”

The Minister of Information also pointed out that the Prime Minister stressed the necessity that “no one should exceed our loyalty to the army, which belongs to all Lebanese,” while noting that “Prime Minister Salam affirmed that he holds the utmost respect and appreciation for National Defense Minister Michel Mousa.” He also affirmed that “his absence will not be prolonged; no one fishes in troubled waters. We are a government of 24 ministers, not 24 governments.”

For her part, Tourism Minister Laura Hadhoud confirmed in a press statement that “there is no truth to the rumors circulating about the resignation of Minister Michel Mousa from the government,” adding that: “All matters will be resolved. The country’s interest comes above all else.”
