Weaving workshop at Bayt Al Sadu teaches participants how to make cup cozies

A workshop on teaching how to weave cup cozies was held at the Bayt Al Sadu as part of the “Summer Cultural 18” festival, targeting participants aged 10 and above. The event is part of the festival’s activities and programs aimed at developing the manual skills of attendees.

The workshop, led by instructor Haya Al-Balushi with the assistance of Sanaa Al-Adwani, gave participants the opportunity to learn the basics of weaving in a simple and practical manner, applying these techniques to create their own cup cozies using various types of yarn.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Balushi explained that the workshop’s concept involves wrapping yarn around a cord and repeating the wrapping process while securing it in a circular shape until the desired size for the cup base is achieved.

She noted that the workshop aims to enhance participants’ handicraft skills and introduce them to simple, practical methods for utilizing yarn to create functional items that add a personal and aesthetic touch to their tables.

Al-Balushi added that the workshop is suitable for beginners and handicraft enthusiasts, providing all necessary tools and yarn for hands-on practice. This enables participants to carry out their projects independently and acquire a new skill in weaving within the framework of the “Summer Cultural 18” festival.
