“Talent and Creativity” Concludes University Majors Preparation and Awareness Program for 2026 High School Students
The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, concluded its 2026 program for preparation, readiness, and exploration of scientific university majors for high school students. The center stated that the program, held from August 2 to 13 in collaboration with Kuwait University and with the participation of more than 65 students from grades 10 to 12, aimed to help students explore university majors and choose academic pathways that align with their interests and abilities through an educational experience that combined academic, practical, and field-based components.
The center emphasized the importance of the program, held under the patronage of Kuwait University President Dr. Dina Al-Milhim, in introducing participating students to university life and academic majors in the fields of medicine, engineering, and petroleum through scientific and practical experiences that contributed to developing their skills, providing close insight into the nature of these majors, and supporting their future academic and career orientations.
It was clarified that the program offered a comprehensive experience combining specialized lectures, practical workshops, hands-on experiments, field visits, and direct interaction with academics and specialists. The center noted that students participated in activities that allowed them to closely examine the nature of university study, the requirements of various majors, educational opportunities and scholarships, and labor market prospects, thereby enhancing their readiness for university life.
The medical track included experiences such as learning about epidemiology, writing scientific research, training in the anatomy lab, workshops on using medical equipment, handling emergency cases, and visits to the medical library and hospitals. The medical track also featured training in laparoscopic surgery, simulation-based surgery, laboratory demonstrations, and meetings with practicing physicians, giving students the opportunity to gain practical insight into the nature of study and practice in the medical field.
The engineering track included lectures and experiments in architecture, engineering competitions, artistic experiments, and field visits to the Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil and Gas Exhibition and the Science Center, along with practical activities in 3D printing. These activities strengthened the practical aspects of students’ learning and linked engineering concepts to real-world applications.
