International recognition for the Jaber Center for Diabetic Foot Surgery and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

AbdulKarim Al-Abdullah In a new medical achievement that enhances the status of the State of Kuwait in the field of specialized healthcare, the Jaber Diabetic Foot Surgery and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital received Level Four international accreditation from the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), based in the United States, following a comprehensive evaluation of its services, facilities, and operational and safety standards. This international accreditation crowns the center’s commitment to the latest global recommendations and practices, and the implementation of quality and safety standards in delivering specialized medical care, thereby enhancing the provision of advanced therapeutic services in accordance with internationally recognized standards. Since its opening in 2023, more than 520 patients have benefited from its services, while the number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions exceeded 10,500, covering a number of complex medical cases, including circulatory insufficiency, slow-healing wounds, sudden hearing loss, drowning incidents, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The center is staffed by a specialized and qualified medical and nursing team with international certifications and experience, enabling it to handle emergency and semi-emergency cases around the clock throughout the year, within an integrated system that prioritizes patient safety and care quality. The Ministry of Health has affirmed its continued support for the development of specialized medical services and the adoption of the latest internationally recognized technologies and therapeutic practices, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare provided to patients in the State of Kuwait. Meanwhile, the administration of Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital and the Surgery Department continue to oversee the development and enhancement of these services, keeping pace with global medical advancements and reflecting the progress achieved by Kuwait’s healthcare system in the field of advanced specialized care.
