Ministry of Education Concludes 47th Summer Training Course with Participation of 268 Students
The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) concluded the 47th Student Summer Training Program, with 268 male and female students from secondary and university levels participating, as part of the Institute’s efforts to foster a spirit of scientific research and enhance youth skills in knowledge and innovation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony yesterday, Acting Director General Dr. Khaled Hady emphasized that the program, organized by the Institute since 1976, continues its mission of investing in youth and preparing a generation equipped with knowledge, skills, and passion for science and innovation.
He noted that the strong interest in this year’s program, which attracted 1,121 applicants, reflects the trust and prestige the program has earned among students and their families. He clarified that 268 students participated, including 214 secondary school students and 54 university students.
Hady explained that participants were given the opportunity to engage with the scientific research environment and gain close insight into the Institute’s fields of work through lectures, workshops, experiments, and practical activities. He stressed that one of the key outcomes of these programs is enabling students to discover a new scientific field or specialization that could shape their academic and professional futures.
He pointed out that the Institute’s focus on youth and young adults is an integral part of its mission to serve society and build national competencies, providing new generations with the opportunity to learn about scientific research as a tool for shaping the future and achieving sustainable development.
Fostering a Spirit of Research
For his part, Program Director Dr. Ayyoub Taher affirmed that the program extends the Institute’s mission to cultivate a spirit of scientific research among the younger generation. He noted that the program’s activities included scientific courses, practical experiments, lectures, field trips, and accompanying activities.
Taher said that students demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and a keen desire to benefit from the available training opportunities over the past weeks. He expressed his hope that the experience had enriched their knowledge and opened new horizons for their future.
Students’ Perspective
In a speech delivered by student Khaled Shuhayber on behalf of his peers, he expressed joy at the conclusion of the program and sadness at its end, recalling the experiences and memories shared by students over five weeks, which he described as some of the most beautiful moments.
Shuhayber stated that participants had become like a “new family,” praising his peers’ efforts and diligence. He extended his gratitude to the Institute’s management, the training staff, and everyone who contributed to the program’s success, including teachers, supervisors, and organizers, considering them a support system and guide who helped prepare a generation capable of raising Kuwait’s name in various fields.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of sponsors, lecturers, and participating students.
