Nizahah Highlights Kuwait's Efforts to Enhance Transparency and Combat Corruption in Sports

Nada Abu Nasr: The State of Kuwait, represented by the Public Authority for Combating Corruption “Nazaha,” participated in the annual Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) event for 2026, titled “International Experiences to Enhance Transparency and Combat Corruption in the Sports Sector.” The event was held remotely via video conference yesterday, organized by the GCC Secretariat General in coordination with the General Department for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security at the Ministry of Interior in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The event brought together representatives of anti-corruption agencies in GCC member states, along with professionals from the sports sector, including officials from federations and clubs. This initiative aimed to strengthen cooperation among Gulf entities concerned with combating sports corruption, raise awareness of the risks of corruption in this sector, and explore preventive measures, by showcasing best practices and relevant regional and international experiences.

Abdulrahman Al-Wazzan, First Secretary in the International Cooperation Department at “Nazaha,” delivered a presentation titled “Kuwait’s Experience in Enhancing Integrity and Transparency in the Sports Sector.” His presentation covered the legal and institutional framework for sports and anti-corruption efforts in Kuwait, as well as the role of sports as a societal pillar in building a culture of integrity. He highlighted several practical examples demonstrating Kuwait’s commitment to implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing integrity and combating corruption in the sports sector.
