Interior Ministry to Families: Your Children in the Digital World Are Your Responsibility... Beware of Their Being Led Astray by Extremist Ideas

The Ministry of Interior posted a message titled “Your Children in the Digital World Are Your Responsibility,” hours after announcing the disruption of two incidents linked to contacts with members of the ISIS terrorist organization and plans to target places of worship, emphasizing the crucial role of families in protecting children from the dangers of extremist content and communication with suspicious accounts.
In an awareness message to families, the ministry urged parents to monitor the content their children follow on social media platforms, identify the individuals and accounts they interact with, and engage in dialogue with them while staying close to what they watch and follow in the digital world.
The awareness message stressed the need to educate children about the risks of being drawn into extremist ideas and deviant behaviors, and to reinforce values of loyalty, national belonging, and respect for the law.
This message comes within the framework of reaffirming the importance of partnership between families, security institutions, and society in preventing extremist ideas and addressing early any indicators that may threaten the safety of children or the community.
