Sisi directs swift investigation into the causes of the Duways incident, provision of care for the injured, and payment of compensation

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has directed the swift investigation into the causes of the road accident in Al-Duways, Ismailia, and the precise and complete completion of legal procedures at the earliest opportunity, with continuous updates on developments.

President el-Sisi has tasked the Ministry of Health with providing appropriate medical care for the injured, while the Ministry of Social Solidarity is to disburse compensation immediately to the victims’ families and the relatives of the deceased. He also directed the Governor of Ismailia to remove the traces of the tragic accident and to offer condolences to the families for their great loss.

In the same context, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, directed Minister of Labor Hassan Radad to disburse the stipulated compensation to the families of the victims and the injured in the accident from the Informal Labor Fund, in accordance with the regulations governing this matter. This comes as part of his continuous monitoring of the repercussions of the collision between two trucks transporting workers in the Al-Duways area, which is part of the El-Tel El-Kabir Center in Ismailia Governorate.

The Minister of Labor assured the Prime Minister that he is monitoring the developments of the accident and the condition of the injured, in coordination with the Central Administration for Informal Labor Affairs at the ministry and the Ismailia Governorate Directorate of Labor. He added: “We are working to quickly collect and complete official data and information in coordination with the relevant authorities to ascertain the circumstances of the accident, enumerate the number of victims and the injured, and swiftly take the necessary measures to provide support, protection, and assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured workers, in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.”

For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, monitored the health repercussions of the accident to ensure the health status of the injured and to follow up on the provision of necessary medical care.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated in a press release that the Ministry’s Crisis and Emergency Room is continuously monitoring the developments of the accident, in coordination with the Healthcare Authority and the Ismailia Governorate Directorate of Health Affairs. He emphasized the raising of the readiness level in hospitals and the confirmation of the availability of medical teams, medicines, and necessary supplies to handle the cases.

He noted that, according to the latest update and preliminary figures, the accident resulted in 32 injured and 15 deaths. The injured were transported to Qassassin Central Hospital to receive the necessary medical care. The official spokesperson confirmed that the Minister directed providing the highest levels of medical care to the injured, monitoring their health status on a daily basis, and maintaining full coordination between the Ministry’s Crisis and Emergency Room and the health authorities in the governorate.
