Goal celebration in the Brazilian league turns into a sudden fall down the stairs of a tunnel leading to the locker rooms

Brazilian defender Jasi Maranhao, captain of Coritiba, turned his celebration into an unexpected incident after jumping over an advertising board and falling down a flight of stairs leading to the locker room tunnel, before another surprise unfolded when his goal was disallowed following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.

The incident occurred during Coritiba’s match against Chapecoense in the 22nd round of the Brazilian league, when Maranhao scored with a header in the 42nd minute and rushed toward the stands to celebrate, tucking the ball under his shirt in tribute to his pregnant wife, but failed to notice a gap behind the advertising boards.

The 29-year-old player returned to the pitch and completed the first half before being substituted at the start of the second half. Maranhao later reassured Coritiba fans, explaining that the accident initially caused him foot pain, but he is now in better condition and recovering well.

Despite the disallowance of his goal, Coritiba managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Chapecoense.
