Kuwayt condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli occupation authorities’ sovereignty over the Syrian Golan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s condemnation and rejection of the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli occupation authorities’ sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s rejection of this step, which contravenes international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed the occupation authority’s imposition of its laws and administration over the occupied Syrian Golan null and void and without any legal effect.

The Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab territory, and its rejection of any measures aimed at entrenching the occupation or legitimizing it, emphasizing the principle that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible under the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

While reaffirming Kuwait’s support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the sister Arab Republic of Syria, the Ministry renewed its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the UN Charter, and to compel Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
