Kuwait's sky to witness several astronomical phenomena today and tomorrow

The Al-Ajiri Science Center clarified that the sky over Kuwait is witnessing several astronomical phenomena today and tomorrow, beginning with the birth of the crescent moon of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, followed by the “Perseid meteor shower,” as well as the possibility of observing several planets.

In a statement, the center noted that the dawn of Thursday, August 13, will offer the opportunity to observe several planets in the Kuwaiti sky, including Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, with some of them visible through telescopes.

It explained that the planets do not actually align in a straight line in space; rather, they appear from Earth’s perspective distributed across an area near the ecliptic—the apparent path followed by the Sun and planets in the sky.

The center further clarified that this is due to the orbits of most planets in the solar system lying in nearly the same plane. Therefore, what is commonly referred to in the media as a “planet alignment” is, in fact, an apparent grouping or alignment from the perspective of an observer on Earth.
