Kuwait Youth Team Continues Preparations for the Asian Championship

Kuwait’s national junior handball team continues its preparations for the 11th edition of the Asian Championship, scheduled to take place in Jordan from the 20th to the 31st of this month, through an internal training camp currently being held at Arena Mall. During the camp, the team played two friendly matches against Bahrain, losing the first 24-26 and the second 22-23. The camp will conclude on the 13th, with the delegation departing for Jordan on the 18th of the same month.

In this context, national teams director Faisal Saywan confirmed that the preparation plan is proceeding according to the roadmap set by the technical and administrative staff and the sports federation. He noted that the focus in friendly matches is placed more on performance—both individual and collective—rather than on results, as well as on tactical aspects and game plans.

He added that playing friendlies with distinguished teams like Bahrain enhances the players’ technical level and provides them with the experience needed for the upcoming tournament, whose draw will be replayed tomorrow.

Notably, the federation has assigned the task to Icelandic coach Stefan Arnason to lead the team technically, alongside national coach Khaled Al-Mulla, after Croatian coach Ivan resigned from continuing with the Blue Team due to the circumstances prevailing in the region. The tournament draw will also be replayed tomorrow following Uzbekistan’s withdrawal. The technical staff has focused on tactical aspects and playing methods in both defense and attack during the internal camp.
