“Watanaj.. Giving and Loyalty”.. A Comprehensive Youth Experience for Building Skills and Enhancing Belonging
The Public Authority for Youth and Sports confirmed that the national sports health awareness program, the camp “Watanij.. Giving and Loyalty,” for girls, represents a comprehensive national youth experience and a space for building skills, enhancing a sense of belonging, and making genuine investments in Kuwaiti girls as essential partners in shaping the future.
Maraheb Al-Shamari, the camp’s general coordinator, told KUNA that the camp, held at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Youth Center and lasting for two months, is the first of its kind in the country. It targets 150 Kuwaiti girls from various age groups and includes more than 200 programs and activities covering sports, health, culture, awareness, security, environment, technology, and skills development.
Al-Shamari added that the camp, which was officially opened on Monday, has witnessed widespread success. She described it as the fruit of collective cooperation and integrated efforts among state institutions and society in supporting and empowering Kuwaiti girls. It embodies the concept of genuine community partnership in serving Kuwaiti youth and encourages moving forward toward more diverse and expansive programs in the coming stages.
She clarified that the camp represents one of the specialized programs aimed at harnessing the energies of Kuwaiti girls, developing their capacities and skills, and reinforcing values of leadership, responsibility, belonging, and giving through an integrated system that combines training, awareness, sports, culture, and field experience.
She noted that the camp includes field and educational visits to several participating government and private entities, aiming to familiarize participants with the functions of these institutions and enrich their experiences by combining theoretical knowledge with practical and field application.
She stated that the coincidence of the camp’s activities with International Youth Day, which falls on Wednesday, carries an important message and underscores the commitment to continue providing initiatives and programs that place youth and girls at the core of community development plans, offering them real opportunities for learning, training, sports, innovation, and participation.
For her part, Sheikhah Al-Ibrahim, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Authority, emphasized her commitment to supporting national initiatives and programs for youth and girls, and cooperating with various government and community institutions to build a generation aware of environmental issues and sustainable development.
Al-Ibrahim said the Authority participated in the camp’s opening ceremony to reinforce its role in promoting environmental culture and awareness among youth. She noted that the camp is part of national initiatives aimed at enhancing health and sports awareness among girls, developing their skills and capacities, and preparing a knowledgeable and competent generation.
She explained that the camp, under the slogan “Girls of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow,” seeks to offer a package of health, sports, and awareness activities that enhance participants’ capabilities and solidify concepts of health, fitness, teamwork, and community responsibility.
She mentioned that the Authority delivered several lectures and environmental awareness programs at the camp, covering diverse environmental topics to raise participants’ environmental awareness, familiarize them with the importance of environmental conservation, and promote positive behaviors and practices toward it.
