Mixed Results for the 'Beach Plane' in the West Asia Championship in Lebanon

The national men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams kicked off their participation in the second round of the West Asian Championship, held in the city of Byblos in northern Lebanon. On the first day of the tournament, which runs from August 10 to 13, the men’s and women’s national teams recorded mixed results.

In the women’s competition, the national team (B), featuring players Dana bin Salama and Janan Al-Salem, defeated their Lebanese counterparts two sets to none. Meanwhile, the national team (A), comprising Alaa Al-Bahou and Halima Al-Rashid, lost to the Lebanese team by the same scoreline.

In the men’s competition, the national team (A), with players Abdulwahab Talib and Meshal Al-Omar, lost to Iraq 0-2. The national team (B), featuring Barak Khasrawah and Ibrahim Diya, also lost to Lebanon by the same score.

The second round of the West Asian Championship features prominent Arab teams, including Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, and host nation Lebanon. The tournament holds significant importance for developing the sport at the regional level and qualifying participating teams for continental and international championships.

In a separate development, the national junior volleyball team lost to Saudi Arabia 3-2 in a match played the evening before yesterday as part of the second round of the Arab Junior Championship for players under 17, held in Bahrain. The “Blue” team had previously lost its opening match to Egypt 3-0, leaving Kuwait with one point in its tally. It is scheduled to face Bahrain today.
