75.37 million dinars contributed by 68 entities to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund

The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund continues to bolster its financial resources, with total contributions from donors reaching approximately 75.37 million Kuwaiti dinars, provided by 68 entities from the public and private sectors. This figure reflects the broadening base of national participation and growing confidence in the initiative since its launch.

Rashid Al-Badr, Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, told KUNA that the volume of contributions demonstrates the high level of confidence the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund has garnered since its inception, and underscores the engagement of contributing entities with its national mission and strategic objectives.

Al-Badr added that the sustained interest in contributing embodies a spirit of national responsibility and reflects the commitment of public and private sector institutions to support initiatives that enhance the country’s readiness and enable it to confront various emergencies and crises efficiently and effectively.

He clarified that the Fund serves as a national umbrella for unifying efforts and directing resources toward urgent interventions and priority projects, ensuring swift response and efficient handling of emerging developments and exceptional circumstances.

He noted that the Fund has begun receiving initial requests related to damaged projects and facilities from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, the Ministry of Renewable Energy, and other government entities.

Al-Badr explained that these requests are currently undergoing technical review and verification in coordination with relevant authorities to assess the nature of the needs and their alignment with national priorities.

He outlined that, following the completion of technical assessments, the requests will be prioritized according to clear criteria that consider the extent of damage, the importance of the project, and its impact on the continuity of essential services, before being presented to the relevant authorities for funding approval within established frameworks.

Government authorities responsible for implementation will execute the projects after funding is approved, while the Fund continues to monitor implementation stages to ensure that intended objectives are met and that resources are directed to their designated purposes efficiently and transparently.

The Acting Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development emphasized that the Fund operates under an integrated system of governance, oversight, and transparency, ensuring the highest levels of efficiency in managing contributions and guaranteeing their allocation to the objectives for which the Fund was established.

He pointed out that all funding requests undergo rigorous study based on clear technical and financial criteria, in coordination with relevant government authorities, to ensure resources are directed toward the most priority and impactful projects.

He noted that the diversity of contributing entities reflects the broad base of national partnership and underscores the growing awareness of the importance of investing in enhancing national readiness and supporting the state’s capacity to manage various emergency situations and circumstances.

Al-Badr added that the Fund continues to accept contributions from entities wishing to support its objectives, thereby expanding its financial capacity, strengthening the sustainability of its resources, and enhancing its readiness to respond to changes and urgent needs.
