Human or Machine? Human Skills Decide the Job Battle

In the job race, mastering artificial intelligence alone is no longer enough to win. A study involving more than 600 employers from various sectors and sizes revealed that companies prioritize human skills when hiring graduates and early-career employees, with communication, teamwork, willingness to learn, flexibility, and professionalism leading the list.

According to the study, published by The Conversation, employers believe that technical skills, including the use of AI tools, can be developed within the organization, whereas it is difficult to replace an employee who lacks the ability to communicate, adapt, and take responsibility. Therefore, the key question is no longer: Does the candidate know how to use AI? But rather: Can they learn and grow with the organization?

Practical training programs emerge as an important tool for assessing candidates’ abilities beyond their resumes, revealing their level of commitment, communication, teamwork, and responsiveness to feedback.

Conversely, the study warned against the irresponsible use of AI in job applications, after it uncovered that some applicants’ errors indicated weak review processes and a lack of attention to detail.

In conclusion, while AI is reshaping jobs, it does not diminish the value of human beings. The real competition will be for those who combine technical competence, human skills, and continuous learning. Machines may change the way work is done, but companies still hire humans, not algorithms.
